Plans to increase the present 20% cash rebate for film production
Film Centre Serbia has recently published some great new facts for 2018. The tax incentive budget for 2018 has been increased to 800 million RSD. Moreover, the domestic film production budget has also been increased, which widens the potential of cinematography in Serbia.
These days, particularly important are the promising news to increase the percentage of Serbia’s cash rebate for film production, from its present 20% to 25% on qualified Serbian spend for feature films, TV series, animation films and visual effects, TV commercials and documentaries.
Tax incentive offered by the Serbian government is currently a refund of 20% of the qualifying spend incurred by an investor – either an individual or a company – with the possibility of increase that would make Serbia become a major contender on the global locations market. Many high profile projects have been filmed in Serbia, mostly Hollywood and Indian productions. In addition to its many diverse and attractive locations, crews that are incredibly experienced and professional, and high-quality service, the tax incentive has been another major fact for increasing the number of foreign productions in Serbia.
Other than that, Serbia Film Commission has suggested a project for wider cooperation between Serbia and Montenegro, which would lead to a better involvement in the Film Friendly program, and increase the number of mutual projects between the two countries.
